At present probably one of
the nicest turntablist next to Ready D, DJ Sybot and
a few others on the S.A. scene, but make no mistake
he stands in no ones shadows and rightly so too, cause
the cat can fucking scratch for days. Coming from
Mitchells Plain where the initial building blocks
for Hip Hop in South Africa were laid, it seems this
cat has been around forever, so its no wonder he's
a house-hold name in S.A. Hip Hop circles.

You can catch the flyers of his shows and party's
on the walls and fridges of everyone and sure you
can catch Hamma DJ'ing at least once or twice a week,
playing and entertaining for the "Heads"
and the jiggified Rhodes house masses alike. Him and
DJ Raiko are from the same stable along with DJ Klinikal...

was one of the Emcees of "Brasse Vannie Kaap",
a crew with that typical Mitchells Plain Hip Hop style,
truely homebrew my broer. Now and again you can catch
the cat doing a windmill or some b-boy shit, even though
he's one of Fontana's best customers he can still pull
a trick out of the bag. "Jy Hamma, check yt jou
mag..." Last time I saw the cat he doing some Kung
Fu and he was under strict orders from his girl not
to set his foot in Fontana (So I heard he was walking
to the teller on his hands...haha!). |

| Can't
fuck with the man! Then again the cat is an ill producer,
yo... he was making nuff beats for the late and much
respected Devious and KingPin, and have laced tracks
with everyone that is anyone in the underground (Archetypes,
Uncanny Cessmen, Gini Grindeth...) The cat is also mainly
responsible for many a sick parties featuring everyone
on the local scene from CPT to J-sec and also importing
nuff exponents of Hip Hop to stimulate heads needs for
external stimuli. This cat is on the forefront of shit
on that level. To top it off he was the Tour DJ for
Mark ShuttleWorth...the first African born man in space.

Mastermind behind
'The Boogie Down nights' 2000-event that featured UK
DJ Asif (1st Female to get to the finals of a DMC) and
Olabean (Veteran party and Battke DJ). Established AMD
Promotions 2001-3 under which "Word Life"
gigz are hosted, featuring UK DJ's Semtex (UK DEF JAM)
and Olabean. In 2004 he organized Ill Collabo and the
Boogie Down Nights featuring DJ Woody (2x ITF World
Champ, Vestax World Champ). I told you can't fuck with
the man!! |
